Opening the Lines of Communication: Building New Teams

Following the appointment of a new MD, we were asked to develop a bespoke teambuilding event aimed at generating open discussion and building a new spirit of cooperation in the small workforce that had developed some unhealthy rivalries and poor communication habits. This teambuilding preceded the presentation of the new organisational structure and was followed by a whiteboard session, examining the benefits and challenges of change, and the most constructive ways of selling and implementing the changes. Our role was:

  • Developing a teambuilding activity that demonstrated the benefits of collaboration and the limitations of internal competition
  • Demonstrating that scarce resources and small teams could lead to creativity and improved performance
  • Showing the importance of open communication and constructive feedback
  • Facilitating the whiteboard discussion on change management and improved organisational communication

This program was followed by a series of intensive one-to-one coaching sessions with key managers aimed at reinforcing the constructive communication habits introduced during the teambuilding.
